How to choose a gas stove with a gas oven: Top 10 models with a description of features and customer reviews

1The main assistant of every housewife is, of course, the stove, which is used for cooking hot dishes and without which it is impossible to imagine a modern kitchen.

Depending on the type of energy used for heating, cooking stoves are divided into gas and electric (including induction stoves).

Less common are combined stoves, which have both gas and electric burners or an oven.

Quick facts

Gas stoves appeared in USSR in 50s of the last century and quickly became popular.

As a rule, a gas stove has from 1 to 6 burners and an oven, although there are stoves without an oven. The body of the stove is usually made of stainless or alloy steel with enamel coating.

The most popular among gas stoves are 2 and 4 burner stoves equipped with a gas oven.

1

Working principle

Cooking dishes on such stoves is carried out on an open fire, the fuel for which is:

  • Natural gas, fed through the city gas network
  • or liquefied gas from cylinders.

Adjustment of the heating level (flame strength) is carried out manually using the rotary knobs on the front or upper panel of the stove. The fire can be ignited manually with matches, lighters, open flames, etc., or by means of the built-in electric igniter (if available).

Since 2007, all Russian gas stoves must have control of emergency flameouting, that is, if the fire, for example, spilled liquid, and the gas supply to the burner is automatically cut off.

2

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages

  • Low cost of the stoves themselves;
  • economical maintenance (gas is much cheaper than electricity);
  • easy "visual" control of the flame level;
  • high cooking speed in comparison with conventional electric stoves;
  • simple design, i.e. the stoves break less often and are easier to repair.

Disadvantages

  • are explosive if the safety precautions are not observed;
  • require professional installation exclusively by specialists of the gas company;
  • more difficult to maintain the desired temperature, for example, in the oven (achieved by "selecting" the appropriate level of gas supply);
  • formation of soot and grease on the stove and kitchen furniture;
  • limited functionality;
  • The ban on gasification of high-rise buildings above 10 stories (in effect since the mid-1970s).

How to choose and what to look for?

Choosing any technique for the home involves determining the possible characteristics and dividing them into necessary and desirable.

When choosing a stove, you should analyze such points as:

  • Overall dimensions, suitable for the size of the kitchen;
  • the material of the body and work surface (stainless steel, enamel, tempered glass, etc.);
  • design options (color, order and shape of burners);
  • the number and size of burners, based on the planned load;
  • availability of gas control, electric ignition/auto-ignition on the hob and in the oven;
  • the volume and functionality of the cabinet: the presence of a grill, rotisserie, lighting, convection, etc.;
  • the material of the grids: most of the stoves are equipped with cast-iron grids (lifetime - from 15 years), but there are also enameled steel grids (lifetime - about 5 years);
  • additional features: child protection, convenient guides for pans, self-cleaning, the presence of lights and locks, the presence of an additional drawer, etc.
