Philips GC4566/80 Azur Steam Iron: review, specifications, pros / cons, reviews

Steam iron Philips GC4566/80 Azur is a more compact version of the popular among buyers model GC4555/80. Its key difference is the reduced size (although the weight remained the same).

Also somewhat changed the design of the soleplate. Namely - reduced the number of nozzles, and on the basis itself they applied a ceramic coating (in the front part). The power of the heating element has also increased slightly, so that the iron is ready for use almost instantly after switching on, even if the maximum heating temperature is selected.

Distinctive features of Philips GC4566/80

The main difference of Philips GC4566/80 is the reduced dimensions compared to other irons of Azur series. So it is better suited for things with a lot of folds. And due to the powerful heating it is ideal for jeans and other tight clothes.

The power cable is connected through the swivel joint (moves only in the vertical plane). Does not interfere with the work at all. Also it has special insulation that prevents tangling during storage.

Steam delivery is infinitely adjustable. The number of nozzles on the soleplate is enough to prevent the formation of drips, so that the clothes when you use it does not leave wet spots.

Ceramic coating on the end of the soleplate improves gliding. But it does not stick to synthetics (there is a specially increased density of nozzles). Although the reviews note the opposite, but this is true only if you turn on the maximum heat of the soleplate. And when ironing synthetics you need to set the minimum temperature!

soleplate technology - SteamGlide Advanced. Guarantees crease-free ironing even at low temperatures. And it is virtually maintenance free, even after frequent ironing of synthetics.

Pros and cons of the model

Philips GC4566/80 iron is not less popular than other models in the Azur line, so there are many reviews about it on thematic forums. The main advantages indicated by the buyers themselves:

  • drip protection works great (Philips has it recognized as one of the best among all irons, not only this manufacturer);
  • convenient water tank filling system;
  • a powerful steam blow;
  • can be used for vertical steaming (only without lowering the iron, i.e. not placing it horizontally);
  • the power cord does not interfere, does not get tangled when working.

There are also disadvantages, although they cannot be called significant:

  • small water tank, when steaming vertically you have to refill it often;
  • The spout with ceramic coating occasionally still sticks to the synthetic, so it often has to be cleaned;
  • no self-cleaning.

Customer reviews

Since the iron is one of the best-selling Philips (in the Azur line), and reviews of it on the thematic sites more than enough. Most of them are positive. The remarks are only to the fact that sometimes when using a constant steam and low temperature soleplate heating drops are still formed.

Regina Surinkova

I chose Philips GC4566/80 because I liked the look of it initially. At the same time it is not very expensive. The device heats very quickly. The steam works properly, but very quickly the water runs out in the tank, which should be refilled. The iron itself is light, nothing burns or sticks when ironing. I also used it to put my wedding dress in order after the washing machine. Everything went well, so to speak. All in all, an inexpensive but very good iron.

All in all, the Philips GC4566/80 is a great option for those who don't like the GC4555 because of its size. Their weight is the same, the functionality is also almost identical. But this one has a narrower soleplate and a smaller area, so it is more comfortable to iron small things.
