How to choose the best immersion blender for the house + owner reviews

An immersion blender is an essential helper in the kitchen. In the run-up to the summer period, people often include smoothies or cocktails, cream soups and light dishes in their diet, and in order to prepare them, you will need a blender.

The choice of equipment depends on many factors, this article looks at the best blenders for home use.

Often, people mistakenly assume that the blender is a food processor, for various kinds of tasks in cooking.

There are models with more extensive functionality, but for the most part, a blender is a small unit for chopping, churning, and cooking soft foods.

Why do you need it?

Blender is most often designed for chopping, this technique always includes built-in blades that grind products. These products can be meat, cooked vegetables, ice, nuts, berries or fruits.

Blender will turn meat into minced meat and potatoes into mashed potatoes, but do not forget that blender is not a substitute for meat grinder, meat can get stuck in the blades and ruin the technique. For chopping raw meat, it is better to look for a chopper or meat grinder.

Cooked meat is better suited for chopping in a blender. So, together with vegetables and broth, you get a hearty cream soup.

How it works

The technique chops products to the desired state with the help of built-in blades. Steel blades can even cope with ice, if they are designed for this purpose, and the unit itself has the right power.

The immersion blender has a whisk which can be used to whip eggs and cream for confectionery.

Its biggest advantage is portability and compactness, you can grind cooked vegetables with broth directly in the pot.

Which is better, an immersion blender or a stationary blender?

To give preference to an immersion or stationary blender, it is up to the consumer to decide. The decision depends on the frequency of using the device in the kitchen, the more often the unit is used, the better it should be.

Choosing between an immersion and stationary, you should consider the purpose of using a particular device. The power and the number of blades depend on this.

Considered and the place for the blender in the kitchen, if the kitchen is small - it is better to give preference to an immersion blender.

What parameters should be paid attention to before buying?

If the choice fell on the immersion blender, it is worth before buying to ask the seller or yourself to study the features of technology.

That way there is a much better chance not to miscalculate with the purchase, buying the device that will really help in cooking, and not add inconvenience to the cook.

Power

When choosing a device, you should pay attention to the power, this is an important criterion for blenders. If the machine is slow, the chance of overheating is much higher than with a high wattage unit.

Also, a low wattage will not handle hard foods, or will leave lumps in the texture. Companies also make blenders with 140 watts, but these are more suitable for making smoothies. If the power is at least 450 watts, the device will cope with most tasks, its failure is likely if the user puts an impossible task for the device.

If the cook needs to chop nuts, chop ice, make mincemeat, the power of the technique should be 600-800 watts.

Number of speeds

In different models are built from 1 to 30 speeds, the higher the speed, the better the blender grinds food. It is better to alternate speeds from the lowest to the highest, this will depend on the texture of the product.

Technique with a lot of speeds is more useful for professional chefs, and in home use the device is suitable with 5-8 speeds.

Turbo mode in the technique is the highest speed and is used in the final stage to get rid of lumps.

An additional pulse mode is useful for chopping harder products, thanks to the pauses between chopping, the device does not overheat.

Attachments

As standard, there is an immersion handle with a knife, a bowl with a blade in the middle and a whisk for whipping. In addition to the usual attachments, certain models have a variety of attachments for more complex cooking tasks.

  • Immersion handle - designed for chopping and stirring soft foods, preparing soup purees and smoothies. Usually has two blades, but there are models with more attachments;
  • Chopper bowl - normally has one blade on the bottom for chopping nuts, breaking ice, making mincemeat or chopping vegetables. Suitable for frozen foods, if it has a high power;
  • whisk - mixing and whisking, preparing creams, whipped cream or egg whites for desserts, you can also mix thick dough if you have the right attachment. For making pancake batter an ordinary whisk will do;
  • Mill - grinds solid products such as coffee beans, spices, garlic and sugar. It is a small bowl with a knife on the bottom of the 0.05-0.7 ml;
  • Vacuum pump - allows you to keep food fresh in food containers or bags, with its use food is stored longer;
  • Mashing nozzle - instead of metal for the knife, plastic is used, which does not turn potatoes into a sticky mass, but evenly grinds them at low speed. Thanks to this, the mashed potatoes are more airy;

Material

The nozzles for the immersion handle and the handle itself should be made of stainless steel. They do not get damaged when cooking with hot foods, and are more wear-resistant.

Such pens are used during the cooking process, when the soup is still boiling, but it already needs to be turned into mashed potatoes. The body of the handle can be made of plastic, here users rely only on their taste.

Protection system against overheating

Saves the technique from unwanted breakage, if overheated or overloaded, the device turns off. The technique should be allowed to cool down and can be used again.

Type of power supply

If the space in the kitchen allows, and the socket is in an accessible place, it is recommended to take the appliance with the type of power from the mains.

The cord can interfere at first, but wireless models are characterized by low power and a working time of about 30 minutes, after which the technique is put on charge, which reaches about 3-4 hours, which is not always convenient for the user.

Bowl size

Bowls come in a complete set from 0.35 to 2.2 liters. Buying a small bowl, it is worth remembering that it will not be suitable for chopping a large amount of food or a liter of soup.

Also in small bowls it is not so convenient to prepare minced meat. It is better to choose the best option from 0.8 ml for a variety of tasks.

In matters of nozzles, preference is given to stainless steel blades, according to cooks, it is more wear-resistant and does not succumb to damage. A large number of nozzles makes the work easier, but it is important to specify what materials are made of nozzles.

Affordable price is not a bad criterion for choosing, but if the device is not of high quality, it is better to pay a higher price. The choice in favor of technology with a chopping bowl suits many, the capacity for whipping is not enough for cooking soups and grinding vegetables.

    I have two blenders in my kitchen. One is an immersion blender without any gimmicks, I use it daily. The other is stationary. I use it when I gather guests or the whole family together and have to cook a lot. Both blenders Bosch. I try to take this company. I am satisfied with quality, design and everything under one roof.
    If you can, you'd better get two, too. When I had a stationary one, I had to wash it more. When you have to make a cup of smoothie by yourself, you don't want to turn on the big one, you refuse to eat healthy food. Or maybe I'm just lazy.

  2. Nika Says

    I always cook different dishes at home and my REDMOND RHB-2942 blender is an indispensable helper. It does not know days off and never once let me down, and grinds almost everything, not only vegetables but even meat and nuts, and most importantly, it works pretty quietly, does not make much noise and is quite compact.

  3. Galina says

    I have an immersion blender Supra. I read in the reviews that it is weak, but I had nothing to compare it with, as this is my first blender and I am happy with everything. A good helper in the kitchen. I puree baby and myself and vegetables and fruits. I make different cocktails. Grind as needed. Great machine at an affordable price.
