Operating principle of TKDG

Prolonged combustion in the furnace TKDG can be provided by 2 ways:

  • The principle of upper combustion. In the furnace chamber fuel does not burn, but smolders with limited oxygen access. The combustion chamber has a cylindrical shape and is located at the top of the unit. The gas emitted during smoldering enters the afterburning chamber, where for its complete combustion, the supply of air oxygen is ensured. As a result there is almost complete combustion of fuel with an active release of thermal energy.
  • Pyrolysis principle. Furnace chamber is located in the lower part. Here, too, there is an active smoldering of fuel with limited oxygen access. Combustible gas rises up and reaches the second chamber, where, enriched with oxygen, burns completely.
Thus, the duration of combustion is provided by the two-chamber design of the unit, when the fuel slowly smolders in the furnace, and the emitted combustible gases burn in the second chamber.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the boilers under consideration are:

  • high efficiency, exceeding 90%;
  • Available and rather cheap fuel;
  • Ease of installation, control and operation;
  • almost complete combustion of combustion products;
  • higher durability;
  • affordable cost.

It should be noted some disadvantages of TKDG:

  • The need for a separate room for installation;
  • The need for periodic cleaning from ash;
  • Arrangement of the storage room for fuel reserves.

In budget designs, fuel loading is done manually, which can also be attributed to the disadvantages of such equipment.

Water circuit

To provide independent hot water supply, in addition to the heating system, there are installed TCHS with a water loop or double-circuit boilers. These units have two independent circuits for water circulation. An additional heat exchanger acts as a boiler and is designed only for water heating.

If the TKDG is connected to the water supply network, water circulation in both circuits is provided without forced supply, i.e. due to the pressure in the water supply. When there is no centralized heating medium supply, a storage tank is required. It contains the necessary reserve of water to meet the demand.

The tank is usually installed above the boiler. Some models have an expansion vessel built-in. Forced water supply is provided by a circulation pump.

How is the output of the boiler selected?

Accurate calculation of the required capacity of the boiler for heating the house is quite complicated. Usually a simple method is used: to heat an area of 10 m2 requires 1 kW of thermal energy.

For contingencies, a reserve of 10-15% in power is created. When using a water circuit or installing an additional boiler, additional energy of the order of 25-30% is required.

Climatic conditions make their own adjustments. In cold regions, where the air temperature can fall below minus 30 degrees, choose TKDG at the rate of 1.6-2 kW per 10 m2 of the room area. For the southern regions of the country, you can reduce the requirement: 0.8-0.9 kW per 10 m2.
